GENERAL INFORMATION
Futsal is an in-house program of BWSA. All games are played in a school district gym against other Baldwin Whitehall teams. Futsal is a variant of soccer played indoors on a basketball court, with two teams of five players each, including a goalkeeper (except for U7, which is without a goalkeeper). It uses a smaller, heavier, low bounce ball and is recognized by FIFA as the official indoor soccer game.
- Can my child play with a friend?
- What age groups are available?
For the 2024 season, U7 (2017 birth year), U8 (2016 birth year), U10 (2014 & 2015 birth years), and U13 (2011-2013 birth years) divisions are being offered. - What does my child need to play?
Your child must wear shin guards INSIDE their socks to every practice and game. Appropriately sized soccer socks can be purchased at a sporting goods store or online. BWSA no longer supplies soccer socks. Non-marking indoor running shoes are recommended, and many manufacturers also make indoor soccer shoes, just make sure they are for a hard floor, not for indoor grass turf. Your child should have sufficient water for each practice and game. BWSA will supply enough futsal balls for practice and games. Players should not bring a regular soccer ball into the gym. - How long are the games?
- How much does Futsal cost?
Futsal practices are typically one day a week, at the discretion of the coach and the availability of the gym's, beginning the two weeks prior to the start of the season.
- Where are games and practices?
Games and practices are generally held at Whitehall Elementary or Harrison Middle schools, but can be subject to change depending on the needs of the school district.
