Coaching Licenses

BWSA requires all coaches to obtain at least the "F" License, and requires all travel head coaches to hold at least an "E License".  The "E License" is a weekend-long course that requires pre-work to be completed before attending the course. The "E License" course is offered through PA West Soccer.  Before completing an "E License", you must first complete the " F License" online course. To register for the "E license" course go to PA West Course ScheduleUpon successful course completion, BWSA may reimburse  you for the cost of the license course.

"F" License Course
The F license course is aimed at coaches working with six to eight year-old players and will be accessible to all coaches. The course is available online at U.S. Soccer's Digital Coaching Center (DDC), a comprehensive resource center for coaches at all license levels. The DCC allows coaches to create a personal profile, register for courses, communicate with technical staff, take part in online courses, create session plans with an online graphics tool, access an archive of U.S. Soccer training sessions and much more. Register now.

"E" License Course
You must complete the "F" License before taking the E License. The purpose of the "E" License course is to:

  • Understand and effectively apply the principles of Long Term Athlete Development.
  • Demonstrate competency in planning an age-appropriate training session.
  • Demonstrate the essential competencies to execute a team training session that is focused on a technical function of the game.
  • Understand concepts and recognize the principles of attacking and defending in a small-sided game environment (3v3 to 9v9 adaptable to local competition structure).
